Feeding The Monster Download Free

These monster play dough math mats will fit right in with your Halloween activities. I like this fuzzy, non-scary, kid-friendly monster — so cute!

Feed the monster is easy to use and extremely friendly to all kids. Both boys and girls will find relatable fun monsters for them to play with and challenging and exciting puzzles. The game was developed by experts in the Arabic language and in social emotional skills. Download your Feed the Monster Alphabet Game. To make the mats, print them out and either laminate them or slip them into page protectors. I always use page protectors and bind them together with metal binder rings so the kids can flip through them as they use them.

Each mat says, “Feed the monster [#] things.” As I was making these mats, I was wondering… what do monsters eat? I suppose they eat cookies, probably candy, too. I would probably tell my class to make little cookies or candy to feed the monster. Or, I could tell the children to use their imaginations to think of what monsters might eat. I’m sure some kids would get pretty gross, but at the same time, it would be a high-interest game because they are so interested in all things gross. That’s why I left this mat open-ended and just wrote “feed the monster __ things” so you or your students can decide what to feed it.

So, if the mat says “Feed the monster 3 things,” you would have children break off a small piece of play dough, form it into whatever “food”, and put 3 of them in the monster’s mouth (or just place it somewhere on the mat if there are too many to fit).

The “toddler” mat just says “Feed the monster”. This mat can be used with younger children who need fine motor practice with play dough, but are not yet counting. Also, if you want to teach numbers 11-20, you can print this mat several times and write the numbers 11-20 on it. Sometimes a teacher will ask me to make a mat with a changeable number so they only have to print one mat. You can do that with this mat and make little number cards to go with it.

Alternatives to Play Dough

  • Make mini cookies or candy out of craft foam sheets to use as counters.
  • Use flat floral marbles.
  • Use wiggle eyes if you want to be gross and have the monster eat eyeballs. 🙂

Teaching the ABCs should be fun and engaging. It will be when you prepare this Feed the Monster alphabet game for your preschoolers!

Your little ones are going to love this fun monster-themed alphabet game! They’ll get to practice letter recognition, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, and beginning sounds as they feed 26 cute little monsters. Gta iv tuning garage mod.

Because these monsters are all colors of the rainbow, they will be perfect all year long – not just during the Halloween season.

With a little prep work, you’ll have this activity ready to go in no time. It’s time to get going. These little monsters are ready to munch!

Pair this activity with your favorite alphabet books for preschoolers.

To get started, you’ll need to print out all of the pages. I suggest printing them on cardstock, because it’s sturdier than printer paper. I also recommend laminating the pages so they’ll last longer.

Then, you’ll need to but apart the cards so that all of the monsters, letters, and images are separated. I used a paper cutter to make it speedy, but you could just use scissors.

Go over the alphabet monster cards with your preschoolers. Be sure they can identify all of the featured images. Emphasize the beginning sound of each image, and talk about which letter of the alphabet makes that sound.

Once your preschooler is familiar with those images, go through the rest of the “food” cards. Be sure your preschooler can identify the pictures on the rest of those cards and can identify the beginning sound of each one.

Now they’re ready to start feeding the monsters!

There are several ways to use these cards. Kids can match a letter to each monster based on the beginning sound of each image. If you teach uppercase letters first, then use those cards. Or, use the lowercase cards if you prefer.

Then, have your child match the other letter. So, now they’re matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Place each card on the monster they’re feeding.

Once all of the letters have been matched, find the last card that completes each set. Now, they’re going to find the other image that starts with that beginning sound. When they’re done, each monster should have been fed an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and another beginning sound card.

If your child isn’t ready for all of the cards, use what they are ready for. Then, add another set of cards as they’re ready to move on to the next step.

As I mentioned above, because these monsters aren’t specific to Halloween, you can use them all year long. Keep an eye out on the blog for more “Feed the Monster” sets. I’ve got a few more in the works.
